The short answer
Most pool decks in Palm Beach County are resurfaced for about $4–$12 per square foot. A textured spray deck ("knockdown" or cool-deck style) sits at the low end; decorative overlays, stamped overlays and pebble finishes sit higher. A typical 600–1,000 square foot deck usually lands somewhere between about $3,000 and $12,000.
The biggest price drivers are the size of the deck, how much cracking and repair the old concrete needs, whether an old coating has to come off, and the finish you choose. Replacing the deck with pavers or travertine costs more than resurfacing the concrete you already have.
Typical price ranges
Per square foot of deck, installed. Measure length × width of each section and add them up to estimate your square footage.
Spray deck / knockdown texture
$4 – $7 / sq ft
Cool to the touch, slip-resistant; the most common Florida pool deck finish
Decorative or stamped overlay
$7 – $12 / sq ft
Stone, tile or wood looks over existing concrete
Pebble / exposed aggregate finish
$8 – $15 / sq ft
Natural texture, very durable, good grip
Sealer refresh only
$1 – $3 / sq ft
Cleans and protects a deck that is still in good shape
Pavers or travertine (replacement)
$15 – $30+ / sq ft
New surface rather than resurfacing; more demolition and material

These are typical South Florida market ranges for 2026, not a quote. Your price depends on the size, the condition of the existing surface and the finish you choose, and is confirmed after the site is seen.
What changes the price
- Size and shape: curves, steps, planters and coping edges take more labor than open, square areas.
- Condition: wide cracks, hollow (delaminated) spots and settled slabs must be repaired before any new surface goes down.
- Old coatings: a peeling coating usually has to be ground or stripped off so the new one bonds.
- Finish and color: custom colors, stencil patterns and multi-tone stains add steps.
- Access: decks that can only be reached through the house or a narrow side yard take longer.
Resurface or replace?
If the slab is solid — no large settled sections and no wide, moving cracks — resurfacing is usually the better value. It costs a fraction of tearing out and pouring new concrete, and most decks are back in use within a few days.
Replacement makes sense when slabs have sunk, roots have lifted sections, or the deck has to be regraded so water drains away from the house and pool. Pavers and travertine are also replacement options for owners who want that look.
Why Florida pool decks wear out
- Sun and heat break down coatings and fade color, especially on south- and west-facing decks.
- Chlorine and salt water from saltwater pools splash onto the deck and attack weak sealers.
- Heavy summer rain and poor drainage leave standing water that stains and loosens coatings.
- Hairline cracks open as the slab heats and cools every day; if not repaired, they show through a new finish.
How long it takes
Most residential pool decks take two to four working days: one for cleaning, crack repair and prep, one or two for the finish, and time for the sealer to cure. Rain in the forecast can push a day, because coatings should not get wet before they set.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to resurface a pool deck in West Palm Beach?
Typically about $4–$12 per square foot depending on the finish and repairs needed. For a 600–1,000 square foot deck that is roughly $3,000–$12,000. An on-site look is needed for an exact price.
Is resurfacing cheaper than pavers?
Yes, in most cases. Resurfacing reuses the existing concrete, while pavers or travertine require removing or covering it with new material, which usually costs two to three times as much.
How long does a resurfaced pool deck last?
A well-prepared spray deck or overlay commonly lasts 10–15 years or more, with a fresh sealer every two to three years to keep color and grip.
Which pool deck surface stays coolest in Florida sun?
Light-colored textured finishes such as spray deck (cool-deck style) and light pebble stay noticeably cooler underfoot than dark pavers or plain gray concrete.
Can a cracked pool deck be resurfaced?
Usually, yes. Cracks are cut open, filled and bridged before the new surface goes on. Sections that have sunk or are loose may need to be replaced first.
