Stamped concrete project by Designer Concrete of the Palm Beaches

Stamped Concrete in Palm Beach County

The look of stone, tile or brick in one solid concrete surface

    The short answer

Stamped concrete is concrete that is colored and pressed with textured mats while it is still workable, so it looks like stone, slate, tile, brick or wood. In South Florida it is used for patios, driveways, walkways and pool decks. Because it is one continuous slab, weeds and ants cannot push up between pieces the way they do with pavers.

There are two ways to get the look: pour new stamped concrete (typically about $12–$20 per square foot installed) or apply a stamped overlay to existing sound concrete (typically about $8–$14 per square foot).

    Typical price ranges

Per square foot, installed. Patterns with more colors and hand detailing cost more.

    • New stamped concrete, one color

      $12 – $16 / sq ft

Includes forming, pouring, stamping and sealing

    • New stamped, multi-color / borders

      $15 – $20+ / sq ft

      Release colors, antiquing, decorative borders

    • Stamped overlay on existing concrete

      $8 – $14 / sq ft

No tear-out; existing slab must be solid

    • Reseal existing stamped concrete

      $1 – $3 / sq ft

Restores color depth and protection every few years

These are typical South Florida market ranges for 2026, not a quote. Your price depends on the size, the condition of the existing surface and the finish you choose, and is confirmed after the site is seen.

    Popular patterns in South Florida

    • Coquina and keystone-look stone — a coastal Florida look that suits pool decks and patios.
    • Ashlar slate and flagstone — natural stone patterns that hide wear well.
    • Tile and travertine patterns — a clean look near pools and outdoor kitchens.
    • Brick and cobblestone borders — often used to frame driveways and walkways.

    Stamped concrete vs. pavers

Pavers are individual pieces set on sand; stamped concrete is one slab. Stamped concrete has no joints for weeds, ants or sand loss and is usually less expensive. Pavers are easier to lift and repair in sections and can handle some settling. For many Palm Beach patios and pool decks, stamped concrete or a stamped overlay gives the paver or stone look at a lower cost.

Keeping stamped concrete looking new in Florida

    • Use a light color near pools — dark colors get hot in the sun.
    • Ask for an anti-slip additive in the sealer for pool decks and sloped driveways.
    • Reseal every two to three years to keep color and protect against UV, rain and pool chemicals.
    • Clean mildew in shady areas before it stains; avoid harsh acids on the surface.

    Frequently asked questions

How much does stamped concrete cost in Palm Beach County?

New stamped concrete is typically about $12–$20 per square foot installed, and a stamped overlay on existing concrete about $8–$14. The pattern, number of colors and site prep change the price.

Is stamped concrete slippery around a pool?

It can be when sealed glossy. An anti-slip additive in the sealer and a textured pattern make it safe for pool decks.

    Does stamped concrete crack?

Like all concrete it can develop cracks, which control joints are placed to guide. Good base prep and joints keep cracking to a minimum, and the pattern helps hide hairline cracks.

Can you stamp my existing patio without tearing it out?

Yes, if the slab is solid. A stamped overlay is bonded to the existing concrete and stamped the same way as new concrete.

How long does stamped concrete last?

With resealing every few years, stamped concrete commonly lasts 25 years or more.
